We are proud to share that our historic St. Jacob’s African Methodist Episcopal Church has been saved and moved to the Nodaway Valley Historical Museum grounds. This treasured landmark holds a powerful place in Clarinda’s history—built by a thriving community of formerly enslaved people who came here after the Civil War seeking opportunity, many of whom became proud homeowners and community leaders. St. Jacob’s was one of two vibrant Black churches that served as spiritual and social centers, hosting programs, music, debates, and events shared with the entire town. Today, we are working to restore this remarkable piece of our heritage. Please use the QR code, call, or email to donate—your support will help us bring this historic treasure back to life for future generations.
